Harsha is an entrepreneur and investor who comes with over twenty four years of investment & operating experience in Agribusiness, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Telecom, Infrastructure, Hydrocarbon and Agribusiness sectors working in US, UK and India.
He worked in USA in Agribusiness and Investment Research companies such as Cargill and Amas Investments & Projects, providing him in-depth global exposure to banking, oil & gas, power, automotive, Information Technology, Media & Entertainment sectors.
He worked in India for Reliance Industries Limited, India’s largest private sector company where he was part of a core team which evaluated opportunities in the telecom sector and assisted the team that laid the blue print for the rollout of one of the world’s largest telecom networks. He also provided business planning, development, project planning and management support for Telecom services, Venture Capital portfolio companies and the Petroleum subsidiary of Reliance Industries.
At Amas Investments and Project Services Limited, London, Harsha sourced, identified and analyzed projects, acquisitions and investment opportunities in power, hydrocarbon, healthcare & automotive sectors in the middle east & south Asia for a global conglomerate.
Harsha founded his first entrepreneurial venture, MokshaYug Access India Private Limited (MYA), a rural supply chain company, which was inspired by the increasing disparities of wealth and opportunity between people in urban India & rural India due to the inefficiencies in the system, He raised seed equity from family, friends and HNIs and raised Series A+ of $8 million in equity from leading global venture capital investors/funds including Vinod Khosla, Unitus Equity Fund I, Khosla Impact and Unitus Impact.
MYA launched microfinance operations in 304 villages in three of the poorest regions in the state of Karnataka and pioneered the concept of livelihoods linked microfinance model.
Harsha led the pivot of MYA’s business into rural supply chain solutions focused on dairy. Under his leadership, his team established milk cold storage infrastructure with a capacity of 113,000 litres per day and a rural procurement network to service more than 15,000 farmers, across 1,110 villages that procured over 74.6 million litres of milk from 15,000 farmers over a period of four years generating approximately Rs. 145 crores in income for the dairy farmers.
As a Human Resource Specialist at Cargill’s world headquarters in Minnesota, Harsha was responsible for implementing human resources communication and training programs, facilitating annual performance review processes for sales teams across the USA.
Harsha is passionate about education for the under privileged. As President of Kisan Sabha Trust (KST), his family run non-profit, he is responsible for the functioning of Mahatma Gandhi Residential School, a school for underprivileged kids.
Harsha’s work has been appreciated and recognized by many leading organizations and media such as the Asia Society, The New York Times, India Today, Live Mint, Economic Times, Business Today, Times of India and The Wharton Journal. He was recognized in 2007 as an outstanding and dynamic leader by the Asia Society’s 21 Young Leaders Initiative. In 2008, was named by one of India’s leading publications, “The India Today” as one of the fifty ‘Pioneers of Change’ in India.
Harsha has a Masters in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona, USA, a Bachelor of Business Administration from Saginaw Valley State University, Michigan, USA, and a Bachelor of Commerce from St. Josephs College of Commerce, Bangalore, affiliated to Bangalore University.
